Data Collection & Accuracy

Cambio applies a standardized, asset-based data collection framework aligned with the GHG Protocol principles of relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency, and accuracy. Data collection methods vary by asset type and contractual scope but follow a consistent hierarchy and validation process.

For all assets, Cambio’s onboarding process is designed to:

  • Establish accurate and consistent asset metadata

  • Capture occupancy and use characteristics required for emissions attribution

  • Collect utility and consumption data at the highest feasible level of granularity

  • Validate, flag, and resolve data quality issues prior to reporting

Data Accuracy & Estimation Thresholds

For standing operational assets, Cambio applies a structured data quality review process to identify, investigate, and remediate anomalies prior to estimation and emissions calculation. Anomalies are automatically detected and flagged to property managers through in-app alerts, with follow-up for validation and remediation performed by the client, property managers, and/or Cambio depending on the service tier and arrangement.

Anomalies are addressed through a layered approach. First, non-negotiable data integrity issues—such as duplicate meter records and physically invalid values (e.g., unvalidated negative consumption)—are flagged for remediation through the alert workflow to prevent double counting or misstatement. Second, energy performance anomalies are reviewed using automated benchmark variance detection and coverage-adjusted Energy Use Intensity (EUI) analysis, including year-over-year and benchmark comparisons. Clients support validation by providing context on operations, metering, and known structural changes. Any remaining temporal or spatial data gaps are addressed using standardized estimation methodologies to ensure complete coverage.
